ACIS Conference 2025 – Postgraduate Bursaries

The Association for Contemporary Iberian Studies (ACIS) is offering four postgraduate student bursaries for those who participate in person only.

Successful applicants will have the conference fee waived for the forthcoming ACIS Conference at Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, 3–5 September 2025.

These bursaries are available to postgraduate students whose research is related to an area of interest to ACIS members (see Guidelines for Papers above) and who are willing to present a paper at the 2025 Conference. Through this initiative, ACIS aims to encourage postgraduate students to participate in the Association, which focuses on the study of social, political, and economic aspects of the Iberian region, as well as its languages and cultures.

Eligibility:

  • These bursaries are intended for postgraduate students who are not in full-time or fractional academic posts.
  • Students engaged in small amounts of part-time teaching (less than 0.5 FTE timetable) will be eligible.

How to Apply:

Applications should be sent to the ACIS 2025 Conference Convenor, Prof. Elias Torres Feijó, using the form in Registrations.

The completed application form must be accompanied by a supporting reference from the applicant’s supervisor. This reference will assist the Conference Convenor and the ACIS Executive Committee in determining which applications are of the highest quality and most relevant to the Conference programme.

Important Notes:

  • The bursary only covers the conference fee waiver; travel expenses and accommodation are not included.
  • Successful applicants will also be invited to submit their papers for consideration for publication in the International Journal of Iberian Studies (IJIS). However, please note that publication is not guaranteed, as this is a refereed journal.

The final deadline for applications is FRIDAY, 16 MAY 2025.

Please bring this invitation to the attention of postgraduate students in your department. ACIS relies on its members and friends to publicise this opportunity to postgraduates.
